뉴스로 영어 공부하기: takeaway (배운점, 시사점, 느낀점 등등)

takeaway

 

음식점에서 음식을 식당 내에서 먹지 않고, 들고 나오는 것을 take-out 또는 takeaway라고 하는데요. 저만의 느낌인 지는 모르지만, 얼마 전부터인가, 뉴스나 각종 인터뷰에서 takeaway를 부쩍 많이 쓰이는 것처럼 느껴집니다.

 

 

사실 오늘 소개드리고자 하는 takeaway의 뜻은 좀 다른 것이긴 합니다. ^^

 

Naver에서는 takeaway를 검색하면, 아직 테이크아웃전문점의 의미가 제일 먼저 나오고, 오늘 소개드리는 정의는 다른 뜻, 그것도 한참 밑에 key takeaway (주요 시사점) 정도로 소개되는데요.  이상하게도 Google에 검색해보면, 제가 소개하고자 한 의미가 제일 먼저 예문과 함께 나옵니다.

 

구글이 제가 원하는대로 알려줬으니, 구글 것을 한번 옮겨봅니다.

정의: a key fact, point, or idea to be remembered, typically one emerging from a discussion or meeting.

예문: "the main takeaway for me is that we need to continue to communicate all the things we're doing for our customers"

 

주로 인터뷰 시에 주로 어떤 사건 또는 뭔가로 부터 네가 주요하게 배운게 뭐냐, 네게 준 주요 시사점이 뭐냐 등등을 물어볼 때 아주 많이 등장하는 표현입니다.
