뜻을 설명하기 전에 단어 철자 배열이 흔한 것 같지 않아서, 발음부터 보겠습니다.

뜻이 "고요한, 평화로운, 조용한"이다 보니 발음도 조용조용하게 해줬나봅니다.^^

 

영어로는 "calm, peaceful, and untroubled; tranquil."이라고 설명되어있는데요. "untroubled"가 다른 단어에 비해 눈에 띄이는 듯 합니다. 괴로워하지 않으니 평화로운 거겠네요.

 

이 단어가 드물게는 유럽의 귀족층에게 존경의 표시할 때 앞에 붙여쓰기도 한다고 하니, 영화 같은데서 혹시 "His Serene Highness"라고 나오면, 평화롭다는 뜻보다는 그저 존경의 표시로 추가했다고 하시면 될 것 같습니다. 북한에서 "경애하는 지도자 동지"라고 부르는 느낌 정도??
