"재촉하다" 또는 "서두르다"라는 뜻으로 많이 쓰이는 표현인데요, 비슷하지만 "앞당기다" 라든가 "기간을 단축시키다"라는 의미로 쓰면 더 무난하게 해석되는 경우들이 보이곤 합니다. 그래서 구글을 찾아보니 마침 "cause (something) to happen sooner than it otherwise would."라는 뜻이 있네요.^^
